Kitchen Reno
We love our house - A LOT! But, we also know we want to be here for 15+ years, so we decided to go ahead and start making it our style. We first did a dining room makeover. Now it was time for the kitchen!
We hired a contractor and got to work (KC locals, we used MKM Home Restoration and have nothing but nice things to say about Mike and his crew).
Our kitchen was nice to begin with, just needed some updating. Our double oven was no longer working, and well, we don't own a microwave so the oven is kind of important in this house!
The stove top in the middle of the island didn't work well with our 6 kids either - I love having them crowded around the island, but I couldn't do that when the stove was on.
The cabinets were a shabby chic cream color + some dark stained cabinets, but I preferred all white. To save on expense, we painted the cabinets ourselves (all the paint colors, etc. will be listed below). In the before photos, we had already painted most of the cabinets. It's hard to tell in the photos, but we had to replace the drywall because of a texture that was painted onto it (to cover up wallpaper) - this was a big expense but SO worth it!
