Ditch & Switch
About 2 years ago we decided to do the whole "ditch and switch" thing with our household products. Shampoos, lotions, toothpaste, household cleaner, laundry soap, etc. You get the point. Even still, I was amazed at what some of the "natural" products from the store still had in them. Do you have the Think Dirty App? If not, get it ASAP and start testing your products. My beloved face care products (Say Yes To Carrots) scored a TERRIBLE number. So sad. I stopped using them immediately and switched to some Dr. Bronners & YL products.
Then came the house cleaner, the laundry soap and so on. All the "natural" products I was buying at the store (cough *Mrs. Meyer* cough) received terrible scores due to some nasty ingredients. Bummer.
The products we use really do matter. It's so important! The air in our home can be worse than the outside air because of house cleaners, dryer sheets, candles, etc. It's a big deal! Those things cause all sorts of respiratory issues - and for people already dealing with asthma or other respiratory junk - it can make it way worse.
So, maybe you're not ready to jump on the oil train - I get it. But maybe you're actually ready to jump on the ditch and switch train though? If that's the case, you can join YL and purchase a Thieves Starter Kit which will come with lots of products to help you kick start that train.
I absolutely LOVE knowing that when my kids open the cabinet underneath the sink, they see 3 things and they are all Thieves related (Thieves household cleaner, Thieves dish soap and Thieves dishwasher powder). There's no need for childproof locks on those cabinets anymore, because everything in there is non-toxic! And don't even get me started on toothpaste. Why do we use a product in our mouth that says "do not ingest" on the label? Why do we let our kids use it?! Get empowered - know your products & know what you're using on you and your family.
If you want to get started, it's never too late!
